DAY 1: Burgundy – Wine and Castle

• Claudette, a woman vintner in Vézelay, will share with you her life’s passion: wine. 

• If you want, we can have lunch in Claudette’s vineyard. 

• Visit the Vézelay roman-style basilica, where pilgrims heading for Santiago de Compostela gather to start off.

• Marvel at the castle-in-the-building of Guédelon, a castle constructed with the exact same tools and techniques as were used in the Middle Ages.

• Stopover in Pontigny Abbey, the largest abbey in the world, founded in 1114. It used to house monks of the Cistercian order.

DAY 2: Beaune / Flavigny-sur-Ozerain

• Visit the Beaune Hospice, a gothic-style hospital founded in the Xvth century by the Chancellor of the Dukes of Burgundy. 

• In the midst of famed vineyards, discover the Clos de Vougeot castle, where the iconic “Tastevins Brotherhood” gathers to further the lineage of Burgundy wines. 

• Open your heart to the village of Flavigny-surOzerain, one of the “Most beautiful Village of France”, where Johnny Depp and Juliette Binoche filmed the movie “Chocolat”.

• Visit a candy factory. Inside a Benedictine Abbey of old, anis-flavored sugar sweets are produced, and the secrets of this natural product will be unveiled for you.
